Kathy Murphy is our Director of Music and oversees our many music programs.
Our primary goals as music ministry participants are to worship and share through the wonderful gift of music. We are blessed every time we come together through the words and music of what we practice. Another goal is to encourage others to join us in ministry and share musical and spiritual gifts that God has given them thus enriching our lives and theirs. We want to love God and to love each other. This results in an unusual fellowship of care and nurture. The “Music Ministries” of The First United Methodist Church of Anniston is comprised of smaller groups named Wesley Bells, Praise Team, Chancel Choir, Youth Choir, Celebration Singers, Carol Choir, and Crusader Choir. There are soloists, trios, quartets and sometimes just “groups” - some permanent and named and some temporary. Instrumentalists such as flute, keyboard, strings, etc. add a distinct value to the Music Ministries of our church. Level of talent is not a requirement to participating in the music ministries.
Chancel Choir An adult SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choir and the primary service choir. This organization is open to anyone who feels that membership will be beneficial. The Chancel Choir is responsible for service music and choral anthem each Sunday in the 10:30 am traditional worship service. Rehearsals are each Wednesday night at 6:30 pm.
